Sharpen The Axe
Today I sat down to catch up on some reading. I picked up a book I hadn’t read probably since January called the slight edge by Jeff Olson. This book is a must read for anyone trying to better themselves. I could probably write an entire paper on each chapter.
Anyway as soon as I opened it to the chapter I had left off on I read a quote from good old Abraham Lincoln. He said “Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four hours sharpening the axe.” He said he would spend double the time sharping the tool than performing the action.
How many times do we just jump right into something without working on ourself first? In this thing call life we are the tool. You have one tool and that is yourself. Are you going to work on sharping yourself and improving who you are as a human? Or instead, are you just going to jump from one thing to another never taking time to sharpen yourself and wonder why you are not cutting any trees down?
Focus on your self improvement. You can control your mind. Read 10 pages a day of a educational or self development book. You will have read 300 pages in a month. It is really easy to do, but also really easy not to do. Make the choice today, choose to improve and sharpen yourself.
Have a great day yall,
Jared
